Agapanthus Flower along the way.
The original Municiple Swimming Pool just above the Waikato River. Now superceded
by two additional pool complexes, but still popular, especially for school groups and their
swimming sports.
The river is high so this jetty was nearly under water. Ducks may be seen resting on the platform.
The old band rotunder by the river. Occasional it is used by groups to entertain, but not
so often these days.
Rowers heading down stream.
One of the City Council owned amature-performance theatres, 'The Meteor,'
with the clock tower of the Anglican Cathedral towering above behind it. This
building used to be the Innes' soft drink factory mentioned in my previous blog.
More photos from my walk last week
These photos show some of the activities that take place in Hamilton, on and around the Waikato River which is the character of our city. The river flows by within 100 metres from where these photos were taken.

The river shots are very pleasant!
Dave, if this is the hub of your city, the quality of life on offer looks wonderful - what a clean, verdant and enticing place you live in. The photographs say it all.
That river is certainly high right now. I am guessing this is unusual?
What a lovely area. I'd love to come for a visit! I have been in the N Island, around Auckland, and up to the top at Cape Reinga and Russel and the Bay of Islands, and as far south as the Coromandel and Rotarua.... you live in a lovely part of the world.
Very nice,I see the ducks resting on the dock.
Great set of pics Dave! (Oh by the way, still having trouble posting comments on your other blog)
Cheers

What a nice park. I love gazebos.
Agapanthus are at their peak right now,and you have a lovely fresh picture. They make a lovely sea of blue, along the drive near the river.Agapanthus being common here,I was somewhat amused at a gardener writing from England, who carefully brings each agapanthus bulb indoors for the winter.
Ruby, thank you. Water makes good photos I think.
Carol, thank you. Yes, we love our city. I'm sure that you love your home town/city too?
Tabor, yes the river is high due to a lot of rain around the country in the last month or so.
Shammickite, glad you visited NZ. You were not far away from Hamilton. In fact you went right around the edge to get to Rotorua. Where are you from?
Saun, thank you. Yes, there are plenty of ducks here.
Pete, thanks. I don't know what the problem can be with my second blog Pete. I don't have problems replying to comments via the comment box. Can you suggest anything?
Hillary, yes, the gazebo is great, special as it has some historic relevance.
Hi Marion. Yes, fancy them being afraid that the cold might hurt them. Mind, their cold would be harsher than ours. - Dave
Some beautiful scenes from your walk. Hope the river doesn't continue to rise.
looks just lovely. and those rowers...well, that looks like such a fun activity.
Pieces of Sunshine, thank you. The water level rises and falls daily but usually only slightly. It may flood if there is a lot of rain upstream. We have eight hydro power stations that help to control the water flow usually.
Michelle, yes, rowing is the most popular sport on the river here, from schools to clubs. - Dave
Lovely park, great shots.
Hi Dave,
very good to see the river so high and the ducks are easy to get on the platform. Scary that the river is so high though.
Your photo with the vista of the canoe on the water I find a really beautiful picture.
Greetings, Helma
Bengts, thank you.
Helma, the river wasn't really a threat at this level but it occasionally floods and causes problems. Thank you about the picture with the rowers - Dave
