For the love of kittens
As indicated in a previous blog, we are currently hosting kittens for the Hamilton SPCA while they grow to a size and weight where they can be desexed and sold for adoption to their permanent homes.
Many readers have been kind enough to praise us for doing this, but I want to say tonight that these little guys (and girl) more than make up for it by the love that they show to Jill and me, and our big cat Alfie.
That love is unaffected and real and neither Jill nor I can resist loving them in return. They make us feel welcome when we get up in the morning or at any time after an absence during the day, and whenever we sit down in our lounge they want to share our chairs and cuddle close.
They are also great fun to watch as they play, as they rough and tumble, play-fight or chase each other from room to room.
The three we have at present are all black and consist of two males and one female and without their temporary pink or blue paper collars we can’t tell the difference by the way that they play or fight as the girl kitten gives as good as she gets.
As one of the boy kittens is now up to weight he goes to the vet for his desexing operation tomorrow then goes back to the SPCA for permanent adoption. We shall miss him and hope he goes to a good home. We will keep the female and one male until they are both ready to go back. They should be gone by Christmas.
They have really been no trouble at all, were toilet trained when they arrived and make little if any fuss.
So for one more week or so we will enjoy them, love them and laugh at them.

Ha! Who needs TV when you have these guys to entertain you?
Everybody loves kitties. I hope they find good homes.
I like the whole idea and like you hope they get a good home.
Send them off with a scratch behind the ears for me. They're so incredibly adorable. :)
Tis a grand thing you and Jill are doing Dave, helping to give these adorable kittens a chance at a good, permanent home!

Hi Dave,
This is a story you will like, my Cat Cafe friends not only rescue strays, they also sterilize them mirco chip them so that when the catnappers (authorities) come to get rid of cats, they know that these strays are clients of the Cat cafe.
But this part you will not like. The Buddhists, they don't like de sexing done. They think the poor animals should be allowed one litter. So there was some disharmony in the group.
Brilliant Dave well done! :)
John, yep. You should take one!
Linda, Us too.
Abraham, Yes. Glad you like cats too.
Hilary, OK, will do!
Jane, thanks.
Ann, your Cat Cafe do a good job. It is expensive to do all of that.
I wonder if you agree with the Buddhists? Other people also say this.
Pete, thanks. Dave
I've been pondering about this very much... It does lead to other issues...
